Index of Projects

Very few of the projects compiled in the WATER toolkit were created by the partners of this project.  Instead the project partners searched far and wide to bring together the best and most useful projects we could find that had already been developed.  Our idea is that there already exist a great deal of resources to protect and restore our environment—the problem is finding that information!  We’ve compiled this information so that you don’t have to, so pick a season and a project and get to work!

FALL

Fall is the time of harvest and the time to go back to school.  The weather is cooler and it is a great time to plant in anticipation of the upcoming spring.  We suggest projects for the fall that take advantage of the end of the growing season, the moderate temperatures, and the time of harvest.

WINTER

Winter is a time to be indoors.  It is the time to escape the harsh elements, have a hot cocoa and tackle the more sedentary projects you had put off while the weather was good.  The projects that we propose for the winter involve manual labor of the indoor kind and projects that require more time and thoughtful reflection.

SPRING

Spring is a time of renewal.  Plants and animals begin to emerge from their winter dormancy and we begin to think about getting back outside!  We chose the projects for this season to help get your volunteers out of their winter hibernation while still thinking of the season’s unpredictable weather.

SUMMER

When the summer comes the weather’s great and everyone wants to be outdoors.  Yet at the same time, it can be difficult to schedule events because of summer vacations.  This season’s projects reflect the desire to be outside, while taking advantage of the summer recess by giving teachers, students and stay-at-home parents, something to do!
